About the Club and Course:  Founded in 1896, the current classic course was designed by A.W. Tillinghast and opened in 1922. Architect Ron Prichard oversaw significant upgrades in 1999. With a par of 71, the Suburban course features four sets of tees ranging from 5,707 yards to 6,525. Tournaments held at the club include the New Jersey PGA and Senior PGA championships, the NJ Senior Open and USGA Senior Open qualifying.

Competition:   As always, everyone who wishes is invited to play golf, whether in the competition or not. For those who choose to play in the tournament, golfers must have USGA/GHIN indexes and be members of the MGWA’s Quill & Tee Golf Club. However, everyone playing golf will be eligible for the two Nearest to the Pin contests.

Tournament:   The annual Quill & Tee GC President’s Cup will be conducted in two flights. The President’s Cup will be contested with full handicaps adjusted for the Suburban course and tee boxes. Individual scorecards will be marked accordingly.

Tees:  Men in the tournament’s A Flight (10.9 index or less) play the Blue set of tees (6,525 yards, 72.7/137). Golfers in the B Flight (11.0 index or higher) play the White tees (6,139, 70.9/132). Women in the competition play the Red tees (5,707, 74.2/134). Men in the B Flight who are 69 years or older (not 68½) may play the Gold tees (5,844, 69.0/127) by declaring in advance. Anyone not in the competition may play the tee box of their choosing. Nearest-to-the-Pin contests will be conducted on Holes No. 11 and 16.

Caddies:   Forecaddies will accompany each golf group. The minimum fee will be announced and is payable in cash at the end of the round. A gratuity for good service is allowed.

Entries:   MGWA entry is handled online via metgolfwriters.org. Fee for the day is $110.
