About the Club & Course:  Engineers, one of the Met area’s premier clubs, is celebrating its Centennial in 2017. Founded in 1917 by members of the Engineers Club in Manhattan, the original course was designed by Herbert Strong, whose other architectural credits include Canterbury, Saucon Valley (Old course) and Ponte Vedra, and in the Met area Metropolis, Knickerbocker, Nassau and Inwood, among others. A few years after opening, architect Devereux Emmet was hired to provide renovations. In 1970, the course was upgraded by Frank Duane. Engineers has hosted numerous championship events over the years, including a U.S. Amateur and a PGA Championship. With a par of 71, the course plays to tees from 5,145 yards to 6,767. Engineers is called a “position” course. Many of the greens are large, sloped and undulating. It is rated an enjoyable golf challenge for a “medium” length layout.

Competition:   The Quill & Tee President’s Cup competition will take place (Q&T membership and USGA handicap indexes required). Prizes for the day include individual net leaders, plus nearest-to-the-pins.

Caddies:   Forecaddies accompany each group. Fee will be announced. Be “a good tipper,” as warranted.

Dress Code: No denim or jeans. Collared shirts tucked in. Bermuda shorts OK (no cargoes). No wearing of hats in clubhouse (except locker rooms).

Entries:   Enter either online via www.metgolfwriters.org or return the attached form with a check, payable to Met Golf Writers, for $75 to Kate Keller, MGWA Executive Administrator, 49 Knollwood Rd, Elmsford, NY 10523, by 2 pm, Monday, April 24.
