Knollwood, Quill & Tee Signups Underway

Deadlines Approach.  Please Act Now!

To: All Met Golf Writers Association Members

From: Chuck Stogel, MGWA Activities Committee

There are two current signup periods open to the MGWA membership, and we urge anyone who has not registered yet to do so right away.

Our first meeting and outing of the season is scheduled for Monday, May 20th, at historic Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, NY. Register to attend and join us in celebrating the club’s 125th anniversary season. The course – the work of architects Lawrence Van Etten, Charles Banks, A.W. Tillinghast and Stephen Kay, among others -- is believed to be the oldest continuous layout on the same site in the United States, but it has been renovated and upgraded to modern standards in just the past few years.

In addition to a presentation by Knollwood club officials, our agenda features range time and an indoor session with Roger Knick, a PGA professional and certified instructor from nearby Ridgefield, CT, who also is founder/CEO of the Junior Golf Hub. Our competition for the day includes nearest-to-the-pin contests and our annual Quill & Tee Golf Club President’s Cup, a net tournament with handicaps.

The deadline to register for Knollwood is 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 16th.

And speaking of the Quill & Tee Golf Club: Signup is ongoing for our Quill & Tee GC, a USGA/MGA-affiliated golf club without real estate, available exclusively to Met Golf Writers members. All members are eligible, even if you also belong to any other clubs. Membership in the Quill & Tee provides GHIN handicapping services, a copy of the Met Golfer magazine and eligibility to enter Met Golf Association tournaments. Also, our MGWA gatherings conduct Q&T competitions with special prizes, including an annual member-guest tournament.
