How Does a Retail Shop Get to its 40th Anniversary?
Mineola, NY – This year Pete’s Golf celebrates its’ 40th Anniversary. Which begs the question, how does a business, let alone a retail shop, get to celebrate 40 years of business?
The answer has multiple parts.
Pete’s Golf opened in 1979 with a Mission: To help golfers play better golf. Back then, it was exclusively crafting wooden woods.
Today, there is an array of state-of-the-art technology to measure the angle your clubface has at contact with the ball, launch speed and an array of other high-tech borne metrics, which collectively provide Pete, Woody and their team, the data they need to recommend and craft a set of clubs best suited for your swing path. Along with the deep knowledge both Pete and Woody, Pete’s Golf’s co-owners, have gained from having performed over 75,000 custom club fittings during the past 40 years.
Pete and Woody believe customer service is the backbone of their longevity. Whether it be greeting a customer by name with a solid handshake upon their arrival into their workshop and hitting bays, to their follow up with customers after they’ve played a round with their new custom clubs.
In 2011, GOLF DIGEST created the Top 100 Club Fitters in America. Pete’s Golf is a charter member of this elite group and has appeared on that list every year GOLF DIGEST issues updates.
The highlight of the year will be the one-time-only Pete’s Golf 40th Anniversary Tournament July 29, 2019 @ Wheatley Hills GC. This is an 18-hole stroke play tournament, where each participant plays their own ball and based on their final score could win one of several prizes. Although not a traditional outing format, there is a benefiting charity – Donate Life/LiveOnNY.
This national organization and its NY metro area affiliate were selected so that others might be as fortunate as Woody Lashen when his wife Linda, needed a heart transplant.
"Seven years ago my wife was given the gift of life by someone who lost their life and donated their heart,” said Woody Lashen. “The result is, I have been able to share my life with my beautiful wife Linda. I hope this event will get more people to donate and/or register so they can help keep other married couples together further down the road.”
