Quill & Tee Golf Club Membership – 2021

From: Chuck Stogel, MGWA Activities Committee

To: All MGWA Members

It is Signup Time for the MGWA’s Quill & Tee Golf Club!

The Quill & Tee GC is the MGWA’s exclusive "Club Without Real Estate," offering all our members the opportunity to join, participate in Q&T-only events and receive various benefits, such as MGA-GHIN handicapping services and The Met Golfer magazine.

All MGWA members are eligible to join the Quill & Tee GC, including those who may be members at other clubs.

The MGWA Activities Committee has confirmed Tuesday, May 4th, for our season-opening meeting and golf outing with a visit to Pound Ridge (NY) Golf Club.

Along with Pound Ridge, the MGWA Activities Committee is finalizing dates for five more visits to area clubs and courses in 2021. Our next confirmed date is Wednesday, June 9th, at historic Pelham (NY) CC, which has received substantial renovations and a rerouting crafted by architect Mike DeVries.  Following that, we’re confirmed for Thursday, July 8th, when we will get one of the first opportunities to preview an “all-new” The Summit Club at Armonk (NY), which plans to open this spring and should be in super shape in July. The site of The Summit previously was known as Brynnewood CC, and before that the Canyon Club. The course at The Summit has undergone major renovations and new construction under the guidance of well-known architect Rees Jones.

Also on tap, with its date to be finalized shortly, is North Jersey CC in Wayne, which also is implementing a renovation program, and which has been named our MGWA Club of the Year for 2021.  Further, stay tuned for announcements about a pair of exciting and notable venues being lined up for visits in the fall.

Exact venues for our exclusive Quill & Tee and MGWA competitions will be announced soon. Our schedule will include a variety of activities, including special presentations by guest speakers and competition exclusively for members of the Quill & Tee GC, with prizes awarded.

In addition to our Quill & Tee qualifier for the men’s and women’s MGA/MetLife Four Ball Championship (a two-person better ball formerly known as the Met Net), other Q&T competitions include an individual President’s Cup (with handicap), and a men’s and women’s Club Championship. Our season-ending event each year is the MGWA Team Championship.

To sign up for Quill & Tee, log into the MGWA website (www.metgolfwriters.org)  by clicking the green Login box in the upper right corner.  Your username is your preferred email address, and your password is your last name – capitalize the first letter.  Once you’re logged in, click the Meetings and Outings tab, then click the 2021 Quill & Tee Renewal tab on the right-hand menu.  (The Meetings and Outings tab is only visible if you’re properly logged in.)  If you prefer to pay by check, please email Robin Sauerhaft at rsauerhaft@mgagolf.org and she’ll give you a mailing address.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The deadline for joining Quill & Tee GC is April 15th. All current members, plus any new members for this season, will be listed for handicapping at GHIN through that date. Beginning April 16th, only members who have signed up or renewed for 2021 will be listed with GHIN.

The Quill & Tee dues fee for 2021 remains at $55 per golfer.

So, mark down May 4th at Pound Ridge, June 9th at Pelham, and July 8th at The Summit on your calendars, and stay tuned for exact dates at the other venues soon.
