Military Veterans to be Celebrated at MGWA National Awards Dinner
MILITARY VETERANS TO BE CELEBRATED AT
MGWA 68TH NATIONAL AWARDS DINNER –
YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO SEND A VETERAN TO THE DINNER
Elmsford, NY (April 17, 2019) – Military Veterans will be front and center at the 68th Metropolitan Golf Writers National Awards Dinner, to be held on Monday, May 13th at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY.
PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), the flagship military program of PGA REACH, will be honored with the Distinguished Service Award at the MGWA’s annual Awards Dinner. Developed by PGA REACH, the PGA of America’s 501 (c)(3) charitable foundation, PGA HOPE introduces golf to our nation’s disabled Veterans with a free, adaptive program that enhances their mental, physical, social and emotional well-being. This groundbreaking program has helped thousands of Veterans to have fun in a trusting, safe environment while developing feelings of confidence and comradery – all while learning the basics of a game they can play for a lifetime.
Through the generosity of individual and corporate donors, the MGWA will invite military Veterans to be honored guests at the Dinner. Each ticket purchased for a Veteran will allow them to share in the evening’s festivities and see first-hand how PGA HOPE has helped thousands of their military brothers and sisters. Individuals, golf clubs and corporations may purchase tickets for either themselves, military Veterans, or both, at www.metgolfwriters.org. $100 of each ticket purchase is tax-deductible.
The MGWA has recognized the game’s greatest players, contributors, and organizations at its National Awards Dinner – the longest-running and often the largest golf dinner in the U.S. each year – since 1952. This annual event is attended by nearly 600 guests, representing golf’s leading organizations, corporate supporters, Met Area Clubs and Club leaders, as well as local and national golf media. This year’s Dinner is sponsored by Rolex, PGA of America, RBC, USGA, ShopRite, Eiger Marketing Group, Tourism Ireland, Sterling National Bank, Broadridge, Callaway, LPGA and MGA and will be hosted by MGWA Vice President/PGA Professional and Sirius XM Radio Personality Brian Crowell. |
The MGWA has raised well over two million dollars for Caddie Scholarship programs in the Metropolitan New York area; the MGA Foundation; and the Dave Marr Journalism Scholarship at Columbia University.
